Trust & Safety at AfterHer

AfterHer is an 18+, AI-only companionship service. Every companion is fictional and generated by software — there are no real people behind them. The only thing users can upload is their own profile photo, which is screened automatically. This center is the public, plain-language record of how we keep the platform safe, lawful, and predictable. It is written so that users, creators, regulators, payment partners, and law enforcement can all find the same answers in one place.

Our commitments, in one line each

Adults only — on both sides

Every user must confirm they are 18 or older, and every companion is depicted and described as an adult. No exceptions, no "fictional" loopholes.

No real people

We do not allow companions based on real, identifiable individuals, and we offer no deepfake, face-swap, or "undress" tools.

Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material

We block it, remove it, preserve evidence, and report it to NCMEC and the relevant authorities. Always.

Explicit content is opt-in and gated

Public pages and our app are always non-explicit. Explicit content exists only on the web, for signed-in adults who turn on 18+ mode in a supported region, with eligible characters — and it can be switched off at any time.

We explain ourselves

Our rules are public. If your content or character is rejected or removed, you can ask us why and appeal to a human.

Your private chats are yours

We do not sell your conversations. We disclose data only when the law genuinely requires it.

Honest about being AI

Companions carry an AI label in chats and calls, and every conversation reminds you that you are talking to an AI, not a person.

Real help in a crisis

If a conversation suggests someone may be at risk of harming themselves, the companion steps out of the roleplay and points to real crisis services.
